(More customer reviews)I'm a long-time Braun user (currently I'm using a Series 5 550cc), but I'll be first to admit some of their models have problems. Their latest battery-powered travel shaver, the MobileShave M60B, is a definite improvement over my old PocketGo P-70. The main change, other than color and lack of the little push-out trimmer, is the newer Design Smart Foil like many of the more expensive Series shavers. The Smart Foil makes a tremendous difference compared to the older-style foil. The MobileShave gives a surprisingly good shave, but like most Braun single-foil shavers it will miss some longer hairs on your neck. This shaver can be used wet, and I actually like using it with shave gel (Nivea for Men Q10 is my favorite)which I think gives a closer shave with no irritation. Plus MobileShave can be washed clean and even used in the shower if you like that option. Battery life (two Duracell AAs are included) is excellent. All in all, this is a fine low-cost shaver and it's well worth keeping in your messenger bag or brief case for touch ups, and it is a nice compact package (with "on-board" storage for a cleaning brush) for travel. Well done.

(More customer reviews)Please note... I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because -- like any electric shaver I've ever owned -- it misses some hairs. The other reviewer is correct... you might have to use a razor on occasion to get 'em all. If you're familiar with electric shavers, you probably know exactly what we're talking about.
Having said that, I think it does as good a job as any other electric shaver I've owned. And I've spent a lot more than 10 or 11 bucks on those.
Bottom line: I like it and recommend it.
I use it as a travel shaver. It's "spunky" because it's battery powered. My rechargable starts to slow down after a couple of uses and, of course, needs to be charged. This one really has some energy and so far I haven't worn down the batteries. Battery life seems good since I'd be recharging by now with my other shaver.
You might want to carry a couple of extra batteries with you when you're traveling. But consider this... the shaver itself is self-contained. You don't have to carry a recharging cord (you don't need access to an outlet) and it flips around into it's own "case" so there's no case or pouch to carry around. As such, it's a good, very compact Braun shaver (with trimmer) and you sure can't beat the price.

(More customer reviews)I have a goatee and I have been looking for a single shaving device that would trim and define my beard and also give me a decent shave for those times when I don't want to use a razor. The cruzer3 was the only device I could find that claimed to do all three tasks. I took a chance and ordered it through Amazon - and I'm very happy with the purchase. The shaver works well; not as good as a razor of course, but it's great for touching up spots I missed or a full shave when I'm in a hurry. The trimming blades are well-shaped and work much better than I thought they would. A blade that extends 90 degrees from the handle works best for trimming and defining, but the cruzer3's blades work well (you just have to tilt the shaver 90 degrees from your face). The beard trimmer attachment also works well. I have a hair trimmer that I use for buzz cuts and was using it for beard trimming, but the cruzer3 works just as well. And it's one less device I have to keep track of. Finally, I appreciate the fact that I can rinse off the unit with water when I'm done. I am completely satisified with the cruzer3; it meets all of my requirements for an all-purpose shaver/trimmer.

Braun Pulsonic Shaver
Budget shavers for cost conscious consumers are an important niche. With more and more 'blades/foils' (for example, the Panasonic Arc), simplicity of design still has its place.
I have tried numerous shavers by Remmington, Norelco, Panasonic, Braun, 3 generations of Panasonic Linear shavers and I currently use the Panasonic Arc Shaver (by the now defunct, Sharper Image).

DESIGN:
The shaver is a no-frills shaver with a single floating foil and single 'blade'. A pull out trimmer is integrated in the back. The unit has a separate on and off button, and the only indicator light lets you know when it charges. The slim silver body is stylish and conservative. It fits comfortably in my medium sized hand.
The unit is charged utilizing a plug. There is no carrying case or charging base. However, a foil guard protects the button and foil. The guard is quite sturdy and stable. I prefer a shaver to have some sort of case - even cheap nylon. This is one of the first $50+ that I have owned that doesn't include a carrying case.
USE:
The foil flexes with the contour of your face and is able to cut around the most difficult area with ease (junction of my jaw and neck). The head is fixed and does not swivel or flex. It cuts remarkably close but not as close as a real conventional razor (on the first pass), or higher tiered shaver that incorporates a swiveling head. This shaver does surprisingly well for the the neck - which is a limitation of most, if not all electric shavers/razors.
My skin is sensitive to shaving and I find it leaves my skin soft with no irritation, burning or the sensation of having my facial hair pulled (unlike a Remington or 1st generation Norelco). One thing it does not do is cut my skin, unlike my old Remington Shaver.
The trimmer is precise and cuts a clean line.
MAINTENANCE:
Clean up allows you to rinse the blade (unplugged), and the instructions say not to use the unit until completely dry. I still prefer this method over 'self cleaning' solutions in a docking station, like a Remington electric shaver (costly, messy and inconvenient). A brush and oil are useful for getting out stubble. The manufacturer states that the blades last about 18 months (I would think that this would depend upon amount of usage and the coarseness of the user's hair).
NEGATIVES:
However, this is a noisy shaver (above the average noise) and even noisier as it cuts. This motor/drive system is perceivably weaker in strength when compared to high end/boutique models.
This is not a wet/dry shaver and is not submersible, nor usable in the shower. However, at this price point, many shavers are not submersible or self contained. After cleaning, it is recommended that the foil is kept separate from the body to facilitate drying.
Recharging is a big negative: 16 hours of the initial charge followed by 8 hours for subsequent charges. Having only experience with high end rechargeable shavers (i.e. 1 hour full charge and 5 minute quick charge in the flagship Braun Pulsonic), the recharge time is painfully long. Although, you would keep it plugged in, there are times when a long recharge time would be inconvenient (such as travel to another country or camping). There is approximately 20 minutes of shaving time giving you about a week for a daily 3 minute shave.
CONCLUSION:
This would make an good backup electric razor for short term travel, shaving the 5 o' clock shadow at work and daily use.
Overall, this is a solid performer for the price.
Above average noise and longer charging times are a big negative that keep me from giving it the full 5 stars.

Braun M90 Mobile Shaver, Silver, 1 Review

(More customer reviews)My previous Braun shaver lasted 20 years. So when it finally died recently, I had to look for another Braun. Here's what I like about the M-90: (1) it's relatively inexpensive, (2) it's flat, compact and lightweight so that it packs well for travel, (3) it seems to be well-made and all of the parts work well together, (4) the two included AA alkaline batteries lasted four months of daily use, which was a pleasant surprise (still, I would recommend getting a set of low self-discharge batteries, such as the Sanyo Eneloop).
My only reservations are (1) the foil cannot capture the few stray hairs that have grown long or have curled over, though I suspect this is a common problem with the foil design (I just bring along a disposable shaver to tackle this problem) (2) the foil screen on my previous Braun cracked and had to be replaced every couple of years, so I'll wait to see if Braun has made the screen more durable.
If you want a shaver for daily light trim and beard maintenance while traveling, then I would highly recommend the Braun M-90. It's a fine example of good design.
UPDATE: See my second reservation above. The original foil screen cracked after about a year of daily use. I'm not too surprised (still disappointing though), BUT a single replacement foil costs $13 including shipping. That's a third of the cost of the M-90. Frankly, I'm tired of this problem in the wide foil design. I wonder whether the floating head design would be more durable.
